No Tricks, Just Treats

Welcome to the Abyssal Arts website! If you’re joining us from the Kickstarter update for Zombie Playground - it’s nice to e-meet you. Let’s be friends!

You might be asking yourself: who are these lovely people working ever-so-hard on this sweet, sweet game?

Why, I’d love to tell you! Thank you for asking.

After working for a few years at Capcom Japan, I started Abyssal Arts to pursue new and innovative methods of game development. By collaborating with teams like Stealth Studios and bringing in early feedback from our players, we can create a flexible, Voltronic system full of benefits for both developers and players (and we here at Abyssal Arts are players, too, so we’re doubly happy on this one!). We’ve assembled a crack team of highly skilled and cross-cultural indie devs and have been working hard to get ZPG out to you quickly and in the best form possible.

My first encounter with ZPG was just before the Kickstarter launched, and I’ve been excited about it since. To be able to help get it out and into your Steam libraries is awesome beyond words.

So what’s the State of the Game? We’re just getting started, but right now:

  • We’re updating the Zombie AI behaviors and tuning to allow for many more zombies on screen at once
  • Updating the control scheme for melee and ranged combat
  • Tuning the camera based on user feedback from the Steam alpha
  • Solidifying the functionality of items, abilities, and classes for the initial release

There’s more to come, of course, and we hope you’ll love it - I can’t wait to be able to show you the game and get your feedback. This is going to be so cool, you guys.

If you’d like to follow our progress and receive development updates (this blog will focus more on the day-to-day progress rather than Stealth’s larger overall updates), sign up for our newsletter above (no spam, only updates, now until forever), check out our Twitter feed, or subscribe to our good, old-fashioned RSS.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what that huge banner at the bottom of the page is for - it’s our little secret. ;)

Cheers,

Keaton
