A Tactical Fighting RPG with a Community-Driven Story

City of the Shroud™ combines deep tactics gameplay with the on-your-toes action of a fighting game in an immersive, community-driven narrative.
Choose your allies wisely and fight to build their strength - your choices, and those of every other player, will determine the fate of the city.
Will you save Iskendrun from itself, or will you doom the city to annihilation?
The story is a new approach to video game narrative: a live, episodic campaign written by a chart-topping novelist where every player’s actions will impact how the story unfolds, and the cumulative consequences will fuel the next episode.
As the story moves towards its conclusion, the stakes will grow higher and higher as you are forced to make choices that will shake Iskendrun to its very core - and permanently affect the direction of the story. With the whole city turned against itself, can you make the right choice?

Tactical Fighting

Combat in City of the Shroud uses a unique, real-time tactical battle system where you unleash special moves, build powerful combos, and outmaneuver your opponent in an exciting and deep format unlike anything you've seen before.
How does City of the Shroud do this? The Combo Wheel system.
Like a Fighting game, you can chain together attacks (Down, Left, Up) to make awesome combos, but unlike a Fighting game, you don't have to memorize moves or master timings as it's easy to use, even for a beginner.
Using the combo system, you weave attacks together to trigger special abilities and chain them into powerful combos. Combined with real-time gameplay, counters, dodging, and other mechanics, City of the Shroud is a completely new type of tactical game.

Multiplayer

Like all good fighting games, City of the Shroud features an online versus mode! Pit your wits and stratagems against your friends, your parents, or complete strangers in our devilishly replayable multiplayer.

The World of City of the Shroud

A shroud has descended on the city, sealing the inhabitants inside. Portals have begun to open, releasing horrors into the city. The Zuwar Peninsula lies in ruins, nine hundred years of peace ended within a decade. The army of Iskendrun marched north two years ago, seeking to win glory and power by preying on the ruins of the other city states.
Left behind, the city itself has withered: taxed beyond bearing, left unprotected against desert tribes and well-armed merchant ships, and preyed upon by a corrupt City Guard, the common people of Iskendrun are desperate—and trapped.
You are a child of the desert, new to the city and its dangers. When the shroud falls, your only thought is to survive. But in a city like this, you will need allies, and fast.

A Game Where You Drive The Story

Iskendrun is trapped, desperate, mired in violence and corruption...and harboring, somewhere, the one who has created the shroud. Who are they? What are their goals? And which faction is sheltering them?
As players join alliances and battle for control of the city under the threat of the Shroud and its creatures, their numbers, choices, and victories will influence the balance of power between the factions of the city. Each faction's power and position in the narrative will be directly tied to these player-driven variables, and so the fate of the city itself will be determined by the player base.
While certain events are predetermined, the state of the city depends on you. We know where we’re going - but we don’t know yet just how we’re going to get there!

The Story Only Happens Once

Writing the game in response to the actions of its players means that City of the Shroud will be a live campaign, and once the dust has settled, the story will be finished. Players will be able to go back and relive the tale, but in order to experience the true nature of the game, and in order to carve your mark upon it, you must join the struggle of your faction be there when they need you most.
